Some things to look out for

I was looking for a backup camera for my truck because it has bodywork and it can be difficult to see what's behind, especially at night. I ended up getting a second one for my car. Overall I think this product is great, it's pretty easy to install and will suit most people, but there are a few things to consider before you do this. First, my truck has a 6 foot platform with a regular 2 door cab, with no extension. . There was enough room between the back of the plate and the bumper to route the camera cable behind the plate but in front of the bumper. That was important because if I routed the wire over the bumper it would bump into the wire every time I opened the back door and I can imagine it getting damaged over time. I had to be creative for the car. I didn't want to drill a hole in the body, so I drilled a hole in the license plate lamp housing and routed the wire through the trunk that way. So decide how to route the wire before purchasing this product. To do this, you need to consider any product with a wire. Secondly, think about where to route the cable and install the screen in advance. I think this system will fit most vehicles easily, but it might not be enough for something like an extended commuter truck or extended cab long bed truck. This matched my trunk with cable routing under the truck, on the driver's side, through the firewall, and a screen mount in the left-hand corner of the dash. There was about 1 or 2 feet of extra wire. For the car I routed the wire in the trunk along the inside of the passenger side of the car and mounted the screen above the radio on the dash. I had about 8-10 feet of extra wire. My car could be described as a mid-size sedan. Third, the camera is a normal angle, not a wide angle. This means that you can see from behind to the edge of the vehicle. You won't get much more. That's not a problem for me, but if you're using the camera, rather than looking around to make sure traffic isn't approaching, you might not see it, or a person standing a few feet to either side of the car when this is the case the case would be near the car. Fourth, I didn't find the installation difficult, but I've installed stuff like this before. If you unpack, unwrap, and lay out the cables prior to installation, then it's pretty easy. You don't really need any special tools as you can hide the cables under the padding without taking anything apart. Finally, I noticed a hiss on the car's screen. This can happen from radio interference and even LED light bulbs. Noise looks like small black lines running horizontally across the image. This is not a screen issue as I tested the system prior to installation to ensure everything was working and noise free. It's noticeable, but doesn't irritate or degrade the picture to the point where you can't tell what you're seeing. It has a function to connect the camera with the included switch or turn it on when the reverse light is on. I connected both to the headlights, but I think you can connect them both ways if you want. Why should the camera be on if you're not backing up? I've been thinking about it and imagining that you have so much stuff in the back you can't use a viewing mirror. You can turn on the camera and see what's behind you. The night vision of the camera is also excellent. There are built-in lights that light up when it's completely dark. The picture quality is good, the resolution is not high. The guides are not active because they do not move when rotated. There are other systems that do this, but you'll need to buy a radio and camera to get the ones that do. The tape on the screen mount is good quality and fits my truck easily. I had to replace the tape on my car with a stronger one as the dashboard is more curved. There's also a mount you can use to attach the screen to your windshield with suction. The company will I think provide proof of it free of charge if required. I'm glad I got this product and I think it's a great price.
