Review on ๐Ÿถ Petcube Bites: Advanced Pet Camera and Treat Dispenser [2017 Edition] by James Pfettscher

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Had to exchange AGAIN for the 3rd TIME.

It's only been a few days, the time is updated. Setting up this connection to my router was not easy. I've installed it next to my router and tried other places, but it always showed less than a bar of strength! No connection to the router. Went online to their website and came across 24/7 live chat support. They gave me instructions on how to hard reset the Petcube and although it still showed less than a power bar sitting right next to the router it eventually connected. I don't know, maybe something got damaged in transit? Let's see how it works in the next few weeks. I mounted it on the wall and it was very easy to do with the hardware that came with it. One of my dogs liked the treats that come with the petcube and not so much the other. So I tried mini milk bones as I like them both. After testing with these treats he keeps getting stuck, he just doesn't like this treat shape. So I put in the treats that came with the kit and you're right, round treats really work best. What I LOVE about it is the two way audio, I get an update if one of them or both of my dogs. bark and I can jump on my phone and tell them to stop! If they do, I'll throw them treats! :) Nice way to control it and reward them. My younger dog is taking some time to get used to this but I am sure he will get used to it. I have a beep that goes on when I connect to this to alert the guys that YES I can see and talk to you now and it's good to get their attention too! I also love that I can give control to family and/or friends to check on them and give them treats! This is a really nice feature! The night vision on the camera is pretty good, maybe a little better for large living rooms like mine as it doesn't show the whole room as well early in the morning when it's totally dark. When you get petcube for the first time, you automatically get 30 days of free cloud service, which allows you to return to 10 or more days of video. After that, the free service only gives you 4 hours unless you subscribe: 10 days of video history for $10/month or a 30-day history for $30/month. I really think it's a bit overpriced or maybe offers another tier like 5 day video history for $5/month which I'll probably pay for! There are also 3 "care" settings that you can set your petcube to. Awakening sends sound and motion notifications to your phone and saves them to your timeline. "Silent" is basically the same as "Wake" but doesn't give you any notifications, it's basically a silent mode. And "sleep" and sleep is what I ask myself when I get home. It disables detection and doesn't log events like the first two. Looking forward to experimenting and getting used to it "guys". As soon as they come out, I'm sure it will be a hit! Will be updated over time. UDPATE 18 hours later: I'm exchanging my petcube for another one, it should arrive on Monday (in 5 days) and I really hope that my problems are due to bad packaging/shipping because I really want to like this invention! Due to the weak Wi-Fi signal I have despite being 5 INCHES away from my router! The video became very fuzzy, fuzzy and pixelated. The speaker also stopped working completely. It's not the best speaker in the world, but if it doesn't work at all even after a day of use, it's unacceptable. If it's not a wifi signal issue either. Maybe a better indoor antenna would help this box! I'm really disappointed right now and I hope the replacement is 100 times better and I just received a defective product. Will update this when I get it! UPDATE 10/18/2017: Got a replacement, thanks Amazon! It's slightly better than the previous one. In preparation, I even bought a new router, a bit more powerful and with a bit more range. The Wi-Fi antennas on these things are bullshit! must see it Here too, with another petcube and a new router next to each other, the barley got 1 power bar when it was set up! But this time I had no connection problems. Regarding petcube's answer below, my internet is NO problem, I have high speed at home, 60+ Mbps down and 5 Mbps up. The internet I am connected to on my phone at work via fiber optic and at over 100+ Mbps and 100+ Mbps should have no video issues! With the exchange, the video is better and the speaker works. The only problem with the speaker and mic being so close together on the petcube is that you get a lot of feedback, rendering it almost unusable. So I really want to give 3 1/2 stars because I received a defective product. , but while it's nice to see what my furries are doing and giving them treats, there are still issues. The biggest problem is a bad Wi-Fi antenna! I will mainly be using it to keep an eye on them at work and give them treats from time to time! That's where this product shines! Overall I am satisfied with my purchase. Oh I also found the PERFECT treats for this thing, treats that never block the car and you get more than double the price for the health treats that come with the Petcube. Charlee Bear Dog Treats! PERFECT! Charlee Bear Dog Treats, 32 oz, Liver/Tap UPDATE: 11/16/2017: Less than a month later, my second machine's treat dispenser accidentally stopped working. It's not stuffed full of goodies, it just stops working because if you unplug and plug it back in, it will magically start working again less than 5-10 times before stopping again. I contacted the support again via live chat, they told me to restart the device, same as the first time, same problem. Tried reset again, no change. So again, just because I REALLY want to love this invention, I'm going to give it a third chance! Bought another one and sent this one back. If the 3rd unit I receive has problems I'll finish and come back for a refund. Will be updated in time with the 3rd block.
