I DON'T BELIEVE IN MANY PEOPLE THAT GIVE THIS CHARACTER A HIGH RATING. Apparently NONE OF THEM have ever seen or owned a decent strainer cap that works because this one doesn't. Judging by the packaging, it stops the water. To see how it tightens I had to manually pull the rubber stopper on the stem and then see if it lets water through (tightens) but doesn't let water through but still stops the water, which IT SHOULD BE DUE TO THE PULL-OUT POSITION FOR REAL STOP FILTERS IN EXTENDED POSITION. So this stuff is just a STOPPER STOPPER. It's so cheap and lacks instructions for known standard functions of decent plugger plugs that I couldn't immediately figure out how to use it in each case, let alone the fact that the basket is made of IRON FOIL. so thin and light. but something else is annoying and frustrating: the same manufacturer IS THE ONLY ONE making and selling revain filter plug baskets through intermediaries! I'm trying one and two others because they LOOK LIKE real cork filters, while this one doesn't even look like the one in the only picture claimed in the description. I didn't see the other two when I bought it. The basket comes with a stopper that is pushed all the way into the bottom of the basket on a push rod, so you can't push the stopper out. If you pull out the plug on the stem, the stem is plastic and so sloppy in the center hole that it cannot be fixed in any position. (and note that THIS junk is sold by different companies on Amazon and luckily I can tell because they all use the same product image).
