Review on πŸ•ŠοΈ Enhancing Serenity: Amber Equivalent Blocking Bedroom Nursery by Que Wade

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's about improving the conditions for a good night's sleep.

All of our artificial lighting is based on LED lights, which produce a rich blue component in the 400 to 450 nanometer wavelength range. There are reasons for this; mainly because the LED itself emits a deep royal blue which is then transferred to a phosphor layer which absorbs most of that radiation and re-emits longer wavelength colors which combine into something more suited to visual needs. the royal blue oozes through the phosphor layer. This is known to suppress the production of the hormone melatonin, the presence of which synchronizes the body's circadian rhythms. This can thwart attempts to fall asleep for an hour or more after the lights are turned off while melatonin does its work. Our home is at 48.11 degrees north latitude, near the northern border of the continental United States. Winter nights start very early here, and our family members are not often ready to turn off the lights at 4-6pm. So we've implemented useful solutions like blue-blocking prescription glasses, inexpensive amber blue-blocking glasses, and "night light" settings for the computer screen that significantly reduce the amount of blue. But it wasn't a competitive solution. For example, when bedtime approaches, it can be quite difficult to wash your face while wearing blue filter glasses. One day I came across Neoporal LED bulbs and bought 3 packs to try in our small bathroom. Neoporal appears to be using specially designed LEDs that may emit more wavelengths than royal blue, or maybe they found a way to do a better job of preventing royal blue from leaking. It should be noted that their phosphors do not contain blue components necessary to produce light close to white. Very soon I ordered a few more sets of 3 and then found a 4 pack and ordered that too. Our bathrooms, bedrooms, computer rooms and TV room have been fitted with Neoporal units for about a month now and we are all sleeping much better; especially me, for whom the improvement was enormous. Of course we are all excited about the benefits that Neoporal bulbs bring. Although I only gave 4 stars for the brightness setting, this is by no means disappointing. For example, our master bathroom features eight neoporals (including a shower) that provide plenty of light; a bit smaller than previous white LED bulbs, but still adequate and actually kind of warm and calm. About this TV room; Our TV is a new LG OLED model and unfortunately I have to say it doesn't have a "night light" mode. Ambient lighting is now Neoporal but still requires blue light blocking glasses when viewing. There are special blue goggles worn over prescription glasses that seem to help.
