I bought a device about 5 years ago and it's still working. When I realized I didn't have a backup, I bought a duplicate unit so I would have a spare in case mine broke, but I still don't have it. In combination with a thermostat it works great. I set the dimming to use enough energy to heat up to the right level. I don't think it has ever burned me using this method. I have an IR thermometer and it showed 120F at the hottest spot. The thermostat makes it very hot to the point where I can't handle the lamp mount. Will be updated if/when the lightbulb finally dies.
