This tool is essential for all cavity wall anchors that hold medium to heavy weights and will deform after installation on the back of the wall. The tool prevents the normal rotation of the anchor behind and in front of the wall, which can break the wall face and pull it out easily. When you push the tool against the wall, the tool pulls the screw back toward you, spreading the anchor's "legs" toward the inside wall. These opposing violent movements are almost impossible to synchronize without such a tool, since you have to push and pull a very small object at the same time. A tip: the dowels that come with this tool have a small washer under the screw head. Don't try to grab this washer with the retractor - it will just slip off. Remove the screw before retracting. Otherwise, the tool works well and will likely work with other types of anchors that don't screw into the wall.
