Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhanced LS Engine Valve Spring Compressor by COMP Cams 5462 by Jesse Spoja

Not suitable for high springs properly.

I was so excited to finally get my hands on a quality valve spring tool but was completely disappointed when I removed and installed the larger valve springs - PAC1218. Works great for removing or installing stock springs, but as others have noted it doesn't have enough opening for a larger spring to fit under the cap. You need to loosen the bolts that attach the tool to the heads to get enough height, place the spring and tighten evenly towards the head, and then compress the spring from there. I even had to loosen the retaining screws to free the larger springs. The instructions specifically state NOT to use the tool in this way, obviously. They should have made it a little higher than Comp. However, I was able to install the springs without damage using this method as I had no choice and had to do it the same day. But I had to fiddle around too much and spend more time with each valve to align the tool while tightening it so it stays centered on the valve when compressing. Otherwise, it stood at an odd angle, preventing goalies from staying in their grooves. Unacceptable, and with stock springs this was not the case at all. I definitely wouldn't try that with high-strength twin springs. I even tried opening the lid but to no avail. If you put spacers under the rocker arms and buy longer bolts to bolt on, I think that would be great. If they made it about 1/2 to 1 inch larger I think it would be the perfect tool. But for $100 I don't spend more money to make it work. I have used cheaper valve spring tools that have run out. It was easier and less time consuming to install but didn't last as long. use it properly.
