Should have bought sooner!

Update from 08/27/2021.7, still ongoing. I noticed this afternoon that it was very stuffy in the basement and there was a full gauge in the dehumidifier tank. I knew right away that the Little Giant condensate pump needed some love and attention. I took it out of the setup, cleaned it thoroughly (descaling tank, pump parts, fittings and hoses) and it worked again. So, 7 years and so far so good. Update September 2020! 6 years old and still at it! The little giant survived the dehumidifier and still helps keep my damp basement mold free. We don't have to rush to get the laundry, we can even hang it out to dry. I had to clean the pump multiple times as it filled up with mucus and actually started clogging. I also had to replace the outlet pipe and now I have to replace this second one. Lime deposits (I think) make the hose stiff and it is simply impossible to clean, or at least practically impossible to clean. Suffice it to say, set this pump up properly, spend minimal time cleaning it occasionally, and it will take care of you. Update August 2015: A huge year and the little pump is still running smoothly. (knock on wood). I don't think about the pump at all, except when I hear it turn on or see a super green patch on the lawn where I'm also pumping water. Few purchases bring me joy these days. I'm still satisfied. Knock Knock. My Lil Giant Review: This little giant ran all summer (2014) and saved me countless trips up and down stairs to the basement to empty heavy buckets of water. (Twice a day last year!) It attaches to an old dehumidifier with a piece of garden hose and a clamp. It comes with a pipe I pulled from my basement window into a heavily flooded flower pot in the yard. It easily pumped water straight up and out a distance of about 12 feet. The only issue I had was my own fault and I only mention this because it is something to consider when setting up and using the pump. The pump is a bit heavy and the rigid flexible garden hose attached to it can easily tip the pump to one side or the other. I wasn't paying attention and when I moved the dehumidifier slightly I must have accidentally tilted the pump just enough to tip it so that the drizzle hit the ground and I caught it before it made a real mess. This was not a device error, you just need to be aware of it. It comes with brackets that allow you to mount it on a vertical surface like a wall, which completely eliminates this minor issue. A few people have mentioned that Lil Giant is loud. It wasn't my experience, especially as I compare it to my dehumidifier. The pump motor sounds pretty smooth, the tank is so small and the motor is so reliable. that it literally only works for about 3 seconds at a time. It's pretty muggy here in the Northeast US in the summer, so it worked about every half hour in July and August. solution earlier. If you have a dehumidifier and no floor drain, this little giant pumps up and down the collected moisture. You also get a device with the word "Little Giant" in its name, but without all of the pitfalls that Wile-E-Coyote encountered. this frosting.
