Review on Enhanced Reef Crystals Reef Salt: Optimal Enriched Formulation for 50 Gallon Tanks by Joyce Brown

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Corals love it. However, be prepared for longer mixing times.

Be careful with large bags as plastic tears very easily. This quality of salt makes my corals very happy for a good price. I'm still inexperienced so I immediately noticed a difference in their response to water changes when switching from what I was previously using. They open up wonderfully. Also, the resolution takes a little longer than we would like. The brand I switched from was about the same consistency and dissolved very quickly. I have a pico reef and only make 1 gallon at a time so my mixes don't have much salt at all with heaters and bubblers to break it up. But it takes over an hour to fully dissolve an entire gallon. Although it dissolves best when the water is at ideal reef temp, add a little before your water reaches your desired temperature during aeration, but turn on the aeration and just make sure your container is good for mixing locked. Maybe hand mix occasionally, or run a small pump in your container if you're making big changes. If you add it after waiting for it to warm up, you're still waiting while you're already waiting for the mixture to aerate. and heat fully for transfer. The only changes are more ventilation / + physical movement for big changes and preparing for a little spray with the right cover.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • There are disadvantages
