Review on πŸ”§ Optimized DEA A3003 Engine Mount - Front Right by Paul Tucker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap replacement engine mount

If you drive any of the Ford Focus products you know that Ford made a terrible design decision with the right front engine mount - and it's a design decision that doesn't just apply to 2000-2004 Focuses , which this mount is intended for, but later Focuses with a redesigned mount have the exact same problem. They only used one mount instead of two and made the mount a shock absorber. This is because these engines (Ztech and Duratec) do not have balance shafts. Well I own a Focus that has been using this mount for 11 years. When I bought it the bracket was removed and I replaced it with a genuine Ford part because everyone on the online forums said the part lasted much longer. OH NO! Design is a complete POJ and no amount of production will make it better. So I might throw in another $80 for another Ford mount. I am NOT saying THIS mount is any better than the stock Ford mount. It's not like this. But it's not that it's poorly made, it's that the design sucks. I took apart one of these mounts and it is a liquid filled thing with a bellows in the mount that vibrates the part bolted to the motor. The stress and heat under the hood and the constant vibration of the engine eventually destroys these mechs, and the vibration is then transmitted to the car's dashboard, where it vibrates your coffee mug right on the dashboard. Since this bracket is a copy of the Ford bracket, it won't last long either. But it's a lot easier to spend $20 on a part that's basically supposed to fall apart every few years than it is to spend $80 every few years. That's why I give it a great rating.
