1000 miles in the rain!

We stuffed one bag with a bed sheet and duvet, another with an air bed and mattress topper, strapped the bags onto the Highlander's roof and drove through the worst storm we've ever seen had had in it all year. Hours of torrential rain, freeway speed if we could handle it, we were pretty sure there was a soaked bullet instead of a bed. Finally we reached our destination, took out our bags and opened them to find a dry bed and linens. Okay the bags have a strong vinyl smell and we aired them out for two weeks before using them. And we stuffed the sheets and duvet into the unscented bag before putting them into the Earth Pak. But when we used them they were fine - the smell was almost gone. I attached them with straps and bungee, used some of the bag grommets as fasteners, but didn't rely on the bag straps for anchors. Maybe that's asking too much. However, the bags are really thick, feel very durable and we look forward to trying them again.

Pros
  • High test scores for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
