These are good cheap alligators but they are short and will not cover your socks if you are wearing shorts. Maybe I'm just a freak, buy so I'm HYOH. The material feels similar to a sil-nylon upper (black fabric) and polyester bottom (grey fabric). The drawstring adjusts easily under my sneakers and appears to be replaceable as it wears out over time. A metal clasp that hooks onto shoelaces works great. Time will tell if they hold up on the trail (AT) as I'm not sure how long the stretchy top collar will hold up. Tortuga (at SOBO SASHer)
