Review on Kee Volcano Printers with All-Metal Extruder by Malik Munns

V1 Volcano and V6 Banger Lil Kit (12v, use original 24v pickups if needed)

Basically I got this for a full metal thermal break and a volcanic end. Good news for me, all 3 brakes included were full metal. Upon closer inspection, one of them had a much better visual finish. Skip steel wool and cotton thread with b4 polishing paste initial setting. The other two have minor abrasions on the inside, they can be polished until needed. I've been printing with it for over a month and so far no problems (that's why I didn't need the other two). Doesn't clog for me, just make sure everything is tight while it's HOT. And apply thermal paste only between nozzle/block and heatsink/heatsink. No between break and block. Essentially, you want the heat leaving the block to the nozzle not to be a thermal break, instead having the heat rising up exit the breakdown through the heatsink as quickly as possible. Hope that helps. I did NOT use any other hardware from the kit on my Ender 3. Just the radiator, throat and block (good value for money). The end probes just fit (at least the volcanic block has them, shorty wasn't used) and the fans adjust to whatever mount you're using. My rig switched to direct drive (BMG/Volcano/Pancake Steppers by Revain) and I'm so glad I did. Changing the filler is now very easy, print quality has improved, tension is almost gone, and a much lower hot-end temperature is used. (From MAX 260/270 on PETG to 230). I installed a sock from B-GOOD (V1 is required for this kit) and it fits well and snugly. I calculated the individual parts because I needed so little of this kit. but while it was hard to beat for the price and everything fit, I didn't have to worry about ordering incompatible parts.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
