Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Pyle PLMRCB3 Black Marine Stereo Cover: Durable Water Resistant Protector with Flip-Up Door & Neoprene Gasket for Dual Shaft & DIN Style Stereos by Alexis Guiney

Great idea, but a poor hinge design will eventually break.

I bought this to set up a basic Bluetooth car stereo on my patio to drive my outdoor speakers by the pool. The hull feels very solid and they have put a lot of effort into making everything waterproof. The included wires are quite thin but great for this low power application. Unfortunately, the clear plastic lid is made of brittle plastic with molded hinges that break off easily. When the lid was first opened to press the buttons on the radio, one of the hinges broke and the lid fell off. If they put some kind of reinforcement in the plastic that would be fine, but it's a weak point that will break if you try to open it a little too far (imagine using it on a rocking boat). Pyle was no help, I emailed them the photos and they offered to go out and buy a new cover. I replaced the lid and the "only lid" doesn't even align properly so I have to use caulk to keep rain from getting inside. For the price, they shouldn't break easily. It might be a great product, but using brittle, unreinforced plastic on the face cap ruins it. The response from service didn't help much either. This can be a good option if you are very careful.
