Brilliant shine but short battery life

I bought these to hang on every window before Christmas. Small but strong guys who, despite their small size, let themselves shine on the outside. However, they drain the batteries quicker than I was hoping or expecting. Each battery had to be replaced at week 3 and I used the timer function (so they didn't stay on all the time). Because I only keep them on in December, they were all burned out by Christmas. and I didn't want to waste more than 20 AA batteries for a few more days. Next year I'll have to remember to release them later this month.
