I bought this unit to have a Blu-ray player and a high quality DVD player. The first movie I loaded into the system told me I might need to update the firmware to play the new content. For fun, I went to the Insignia website and downloaded the latest firmware, created a CD, and was up and running in minutes. Sure, it's not the fastest Blu-Ray available, but it works great, sounds great through the optical port, and overall it's a great deal if you can find it for around $100 or $150 new. Anything that costs more, you'll likely find a newer and faster version. Overall, I recommend this purchase to anyone looking to play a $100 Blu-ray game. Hope that helps.
