We have been using this model of Label Maker for over 13 years and we have found that it can do more than the newer models and it has survived. The reason for buying another is that we had a newer model and a leaking battery completely ruined the metal connector on the corroded end of the battery. I was so thankful I was still able to get this model - and yes it was a lot more expensive than the newer models as it's no longer in production but as I said it can do more - has more font sizes and they will use the label tape in the same size as ours. Newer models now use a different type of label tape that also costs more than what we currently use, so if we bought a newer, cheaper model and paid more for the tape, we would have to support two different types of ribbon. band in the long run.
