I had to stop SP recording and just use LP or SLP as SP became too grainy after a few months. It makes a lot of noise when rewinding! There are buttons on the remote control that are not compatible with multi-remote controls. Some of the buttons on the remote control are tiny as people have said. It's a pretty cheap VCR at the moment, and it's the only VCR I've been able to find with commercial success, other than the VCR, which is much larger. Programming is tricky as you have to press up/down every minute or hour each time. I think the mind needs to be cleared, what can I do to get the recording back up to SP speed. In order, but I can't do anything about the noise when rewinding. The buttons on the front are larger than usual. The front LCD not only shows numbers, but also PLAY, REC, etc. so you know what it's doing. But if you hear a loud buzz, you'll know it's rewinding without looking at the display. It's also not compatible with my Guide Plus feature, grrrrrrr!.
