They are pretty much as advertised. Lightweight portable stands, but they also have a lot of plastic parts. ! They are designed for lighting fixtures. I've had a lot of tripods and stands with plastic mounts, and those grips and clamps around the tubes are also plastic. Plastic breaks and cracks over time, making it impossible to tighten anything. So personally I would NOT use heavy lights mounted on these stands and be careful not to over tighten the handles. Only as far as necessary so that the pipes do not slide down (the pipes are made of metal, as are the clamping screws). Heavy jigs require tighter clamps and you run the risk of these clamps lasting a very long time if you overtighten! Otherwise the overall construction looks good for the price and they feel sturdy. When folded, they are quite compact and come with a handy carrying case. The top mount has a 1/4" thread, although I would never consider using it to mount a DSLR!
