UPDATE: Managed to get auto shutoff to work. You have to hold the lid down while it's on. If you do this, it will turn off after a few minutes of cooking. So if you put the lid off, it's fine. If you leave it open it will turn on and work until all the water is gone and. Well I haven't tested past this point. But otherwise it works great! I have two of these kettles. Overall they are great - they heat water quickly. However, the second one I bought doesn't turn off automatically (unlike the first). It took me a while to realize that this feature wasn't working because I'm usually impatient enough to pour water before it actually boils. But a few days ago I forgot the water in the kettle. About 30 minutes later I walked into the kitchen, the kettle had a blue light on, no water and it was thermal clicking. Since then I've tested it a few times and it definitely doesn't go off. Apparently I've waited too long to return. We STRONGLY recommend trying this feature right after purchase. I don't want to put people off buying them because the other one works great and I still recommend trying it. Just look at the security feature because now I have one and I'm afraid it will burn my house down.
