This kettle had a very good but very short lifespan of only 6 months. This was my second Ovente kettle. I bought the first one in 2015 and it worked for 16 months. I bought the second kettle in November 2017 and it stopped working in May 2018 - so it only worked for 6 months. I have to admit - I use it at least twice a day. UPDATE: Managed to get auto shutoff to work. You have to hold the lid down while it's on. If you do this, it will turn off after a few minutes of cooking. So if you put the lid off, it's fine.
