I had a Hopkins wiring kit that I installed on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma and it didn't work intermittently. It worked well for the first year, then on the right side it didn't. The right rear light on the trailer just didn't always come on or blink. This connection kit P/N 118379 fixed the problem. Instead of a green wire on the right, it has multiple wires, which I think affects reliability. It looks like both sides are connected to Hopkins in the first place instead of the left side, which could affect power to the right rear turn signal/brake light. The kit is easy to install. Most of the time is spent securing the wires and routing them optimally with cable ties.
