Leda paper is really good. I usually use a mixed media backing because I like its highly visible texture and ability to work with wet materials with very little creasing. hot pressed Leda watercolor paper and see for yourself. Disclaimer: I have not tested paper with actual watercolors. For me the issue is the ability to handle wet paper and how the texture looks. The hot-pressed sheet feels lighter despite the paper being the same weight. The cold-pressed finish, as you'd expect, had a more textured finish - almost the same as the blended pad. To test them, I scribbled some media onto the sheet from each block and treated them as identically as possible. , I laid on a layer of white plaster and attached the stencil to the side while the gesso dried to add some extra texture. Surprisingly, the cold-pressed paper (left) stayed flatter than the hot-pressed paper. Acrylic paint was then applied to a gel sheet and a spray gun. You can see in the bottom right corner of each sheet where I wiped off some of the color with a baby wipe - the cold pressed sheet seemed to stay wet longer so the color came off more. Paint with different textured objects. None of the papers bowed to an unacceptable degree. Both kept the artificial texture perfectly. In short, all Leda papers are excellent papers for the price. It just depends on what kind of texture you want.
