Review on ROTTO Handlebar Bicycle Release Shoulder by Bobby Blanton

Rare find - Handlebar bag mount unknown brand

I chose this bag mainly for the attachment. It seems that all other handlebar bags (except for big brands) rely solely on straps to attach their bags to the bike. Attaching these bags to your handlebars with a single strap either side of the stem means these bags won't go anywhere, but nothing prevents them from rocking back and forth (using the handlebars as a pivot) or the bag in place to keep . Shift cables and brakes that may affect steering, braking and shifting. Many bags advertise a third attachment point - it would be nice if the bag could actually rest on the head tube and loop the strap around the tube. However, if your bike has a long enough stem, the bag will never sit flat on the head tube, especially if you have a road bike that has cables running from the handlebars to the head tube. This bag has a mount that allows you to place the bag in front of the handlebars, freeing up all the cables going from the handlebars to the bike frame. I've only ridden the bag once, but intentionally loaded more than I expected. At a combined bag + contents weight of 4.5 pounds, the bag didn't fall apart, nor did the mount snap or slide off my 31.8mm carbon handlebars. I didn't use a cable anchor because I didn't want the flimsy cable cutting into my carbon stem, so the lack of slack was even more impressive. So far I am very happy with the performance of the bag. Now for the criticism, which is mostly subjective. The bag is heavy. The weight of the empty bag + bracket is exactly 1.5 lbs. I've been using this for centuries and longer rides on a road bike designed solely for racing. The bike is uncomfortable, but it is the fastest way to cover many kilometers. I need to pack extra layers of clothing and lots of food for these long trips, and I was looking for a way to carry everything without having to carry a backpack or fill my jersey pockets to the brim. This bag is ideal for such occasions and will be removed (including the mount) immediately after these trips. If you use such a bag more often or don't mind the extra weight, you will probably choose to install the bag permanently and the quick release feature is handy for taking the bag with you when you park your bike. The bag has no reinforcement to hold its shape, so where does the weight come from? The bag is lightly padded, which adds weight and volume. My biggest criticism is that the designers put fashion over form with this bag. Seems like they wanted to make this bag a fashion accessory when you take it off your bike. That large outer flap is purely cosmetic as everything underneath is zipped so nothing can fall out without this flap. And that valve has a lot of weight - it's thick, and there's a stiffening plate on the bottom edge. There are magnets on the top of the flap to keep the shoulder strap from dangling in the wind. Is it obvious that I'm fat? This strap is also quite heavy (and not included in the 1.5 pound weight); Luckily the strap is removable. There is also a zippered flap to hide the mounting plate when the bag is not attached to the bike. This flap is big and fluffy and really has nowhere to go when the bag is attached to the mount. I'll probably take a pair of scissors and cut off both flaps. Even if it looks ugly, I really don't need them. From a practical point of view, the main valve greatly hinders plugging and unplugging while driving. If you want to attach the sign, this is very difficult to do with one-handed driving. Apart from these criticisms, the bag looks good and the fabric looks classy. I would give this bag 5 stars if they made a version without the large outer flap, clip lock flap and shoulder strap and lowered the price. a few dollars to reflect the simpler design and less material. Unfortunately I couldn't find a 'simpler' bag that still has the good mount that this bag has, so this bag will work fine for now.
