You're right it is not a Bosu.
I can understand why people compare this to the Bosu but it is unfair to say something is "not as good as" until you consider what you are suing it for. I want to practice balancing on one foot so even though it is a little small for two of my 11 1/2 feet it works well for one foot in the middle of the platform. It does not have the cushion that the Bosu air filled ball does so it helps to put a soft pad underneath such as a carpet or a yoga mat. This smooths out the motion and provides a very similar feel to the Bosu.
