I bought this monitor to replace the old HP that came with my desktop. I was told that his performance was off the charts and the reviews were very good. Little did I know that most people don't understand the difference between a matte screen and a glossy screen. Simply put, a matte screen means dull, muted, dull colors no matter what you're doing. Glossy screen means deep, bright, rich and saturated colors. If you buy matte screens to avoid glare, you don't know what you're missing out on. If the light from the window bothers you, close the curtain! This monitor seems to have a particularly heavy matte finish which makes all my photos look flawed. If you're an amateur photographer using Vivid mode to get vivid scene colors, the last thing you need is a monitor that negates what you did with the camera. Imagine if your iPad or iPhone had matte screens! I returned this monitor and got one with a glossy screen and I'm again looking at images that want to appear 3 dimensional or pop out of the screen. And I don't think the brand matters (I have a Lenovo) when the screen is glossy. Hope that helps.
