I bought these gas shock absorbers to replace the gas shock absorbers on the lid of my old toolbox. The lid isn't very heavy so the 10lb type worked well. I tried them on my truck tool box and they weren't strong enough and needed a 35 lb version. The only problem I had was that the directions were a bit unclear. For assembly under the clip, a small screwdriver is inserted and slightly lifted to seat the ball socket. The first time I overdid it and the clip flipped. I think it was user error rather than a rack issue.
