I bought my daughter one of these (a lighter colored monkey) after she found it lying around at a friend's house we were visiting and couldn't put it down the whole of our visit. He immediately became her constant companion and I really think I can buy a "spare monkey" as now we have to steal it from her hands while she sleeps to wash it. I've also slept with a wet monkey more than once as one day she saw them hanging out to dry in the laundry room and didn't go to bed until I had her in bed and another time her mouth full of water splashed on her bed. and she refused to go to sleep without him. She loved it so much I decided to buy this dark brown as a first birthday gift for my boyfriend's son and he loves it too! I think describing it as a "blanket" can be misleading as it's not big enough to actually cover it while sleeping. But it's more than the traditional "favorite piece". The fur is so lovely soft and the satin side is lovely too which is why kids love it so much and is a nice weight to carry around too. As long as Revane keeps carrying them around, this will now be my baby shower gift paired with a bedtime memory book. (I recommend any beautifully illustrated book by Nancy Tillman, like The Night You Were Born or Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You.
