This is a good base stone with two minor drawbacks: 1) It was listed as very fine, albeit only 150 grit. The resulting surface when grinding turning grooves has a rather rough surface. Not at all what I would call very fine. I will likely have to purchase a different stone or hand cut the Arkansas stone to get a quality finish on the instrument. 2) The supplied mandrel bushings did not match very well. So when I used them to set a 1/2" mandrel, they sagged and didn't set the stone in a circle. If you want to install on a shaft other than 1 inch you will need to go to Ace and get some steel or bronze bushings or bushings for it.
