My old Optiplex 790 had a 2x2 RAM kit and another 2x2 kit that was just right to last a bit longer. There were no errors or warnings, and all 8GB were recognized with no issues. I can't comment on the advertised speed of 1600MHz as my computer ran at 1333MHz and I can't change that because I don't have access to the actual BIOS, only Dell made a setup screen. I can say that it works great at 1333MHz. The RAM is shipped in an anti-static bag in a flat-rate padded envelope. I'm used to seeing RAM in a small plastic container in a small cardboard box for more protection, but in my case the RAM was not damaged.
