Review on SMARTSTANDARD 42x84 Sliding Barn Door Kit: DIY Unfinished Solid Spruce Wood Panelled Slab, K-Frame, Natural Finish - Includes 7ft Hardware & Handle by John Stefko

It’s not just cool. It was fun to do as project.

If you can assemble IKEA furniture you can put this together. It’s fairy simple. Assembling it was easy. Hanging it take some planning and ideally two grownups.Instructions on hanging could’ve been better. But in any case you should use a header board ($8) Most walls are not totally straight (flat) across a long span. So header board and shims will help a lot. Also existing frame of the closet means a header board is required unless I want to remove the frame which would be more work and money. The hardware is good quality. The wood is also pretty good quality but not great. There is some slight warping due to drying of wood so you can see a bit of warping. The grooves and screws help force it back. Glue would probably make it last longer. Mine had no knots or defects other than the warping of one of the pieces.I almost bought a similar product from Lowe’s for about twice the price. Of course there the door is preassembled but you still have to hang it yourself. Assembling the door like I said is easy. Took about an hour. Much less than a dresser from Ikea.
