I reused my 20 year old wick as I didn't use the humidifier that often and it was very expensive at the time. It's been a really dry year this year and since I finally did a Night Manager at Foto-Mat I bought a new wick. I fill the 2.5 gallon jug every few hours. At high fan speeds, the wick stays on and doesn't dry out at the top. Do not add anything to the water to flavor it as this will chemically clog the wick and not saturate it. Instead, place the air freshener cone on top of the device. If your furnace or air conditioner has a FAN mode, you can use it to duct humidified air from the room to the rest of the house.
