AIRCARE 1041 Console Wick Replacement (1) Review

I also had a 1041 wick filter from another brand and supplier that didn't last as long as usual this winter. I ordered this, looked at it and can tell the filter itself is different. The same body meets the specs for the 1041 and fits well. This one worked much better. The humidity in the house rose fairly quickly.

I use 2 large humidifiers all winter and these filters work but need to be changed about every 2 months. I think about what these filters are made of and throw them away, they should be a little cheaper! It would be great if any of them could be reused! I wash these filters from time to time to remove surface dirt and pet hair that has been sucked in. It seems to contribute to their longevity.

The other replacements we tried were pretty useless. Most just get wet and block airflow. Another tip: Instead of relying on the flimsy little sponge air filter that comes with humidifiers, place an in-ceiling air conditioner filter behind the console and change it when you replace the console's wick, about every three months, depending according to your location water hardness and air dustiness. Normal air flow pulls the external filter into place.

We were happy to find a replacement for our Essick humidifier at a reasonable price. Delivery was quick and a perfect match for our old humidifier. We only use our humidifier two or three months a year, so we're trying to make sure it lasts another two years. It might work for you if you rinse and dry it so it doesn't stay damp after not using it for a season. On the other hand, the replacement cost isn't all that bad. We're glad we found this wick!

I reused my 20 year old wick as I didn't use the humidifier that often and it was very expensive at the time.
