*Updated* Bad software. Camera problems in 2 weeks πŸ‘ŽπŸΌ

*Updated - see update below* I bought this camera to use with Alexa as a backup protection. The camera initially worked. The picture quality certainly doesn't match the advertised HD quality, but it worked. It worked! I'll get to that in a moment. I have 2 major annoyances/problems with this camera. First, the phone app required to set it up and manage it is very clunky. The pan function works, but is not a clear control. It's very jerky and I never know if a quick movement will move the camera an inch or if it'll move halfway across the room. There is also a terrible log loading screen to open the app. They cared more about the fancy (but useless) animation than the video feed, so good luck if you hear noise and want to get your camera up quickly. The second problem is that it buffers A LOT. This causes problems when pairing with Alexa. Alexa regularly does not access the camera. Even if she can, the food will fall off after a few seconds. Buffering is also done through the app, although not as bad at first. Even with a strong and fast internet connection that plays other video streams perfectly, this camera mostly buffers. Makes it almost useless to show on FireTV. Today, after only 2 weeks of use, it now regularly loses connection. Oddly, even though the app says it can't connect to the camera, it can still reset it through the app. After a reboot it sometimes broadcasts for a few seconds - usually it doesn't. I'm aiming for a cheap camera. And here's what I have. A cheap camera that doesn't work most of the time. *Update* - read all of this because it's important to know before you buy! - Several firmware and software updates have been released since my original review. The software still favors unnecessary loading screen animations that take too long, but camera buffering has greatly improved. What is good. But today a neighbor called the police about a man going from house to house looking in the windows and trying to open the doors. I immediately checked this camera's SD card (which is sticking out in my image window) where I found the file structure to be archaic. It records four 10-12 second video files in separate folders, which means a lot of folders to search through. Difficult to find, but still useful. The BIG PROBLEM is that there is a two minute gap between the contents of each folder. So when I look out the window, I see this person exiting my neighbors' yard and entering mine. Then when they get to my window the 10 second file ends and since I'm the 4th file in the folder I have to move on to the next folder which starts in 2 minutes. I check all the folders and there is not a single image between them for 2 minutes. Useless! Who could build a security camera that records 24/7 but pauses for 2 minutes every 40-45 seconds of recorded content? Crazy and very sad considering most of my other initial complaints have seen improvements. A security camera that skips more content than it records renders it useless to me!
