I have ordered both types of Dewalt magnetic screwdriver holders and while I prefer this one it still has a significant problem. To clarify, if you did not use a magnet before using the nozzle holder, the procedure is simple. (a) Insert the holder into the drill or impact driver; (b) insert the nozzle into the holder; (c) Screw screw into nozzle; and finally (d) screw the screw (into anything) in the same way as with the non-magnetic filament holder. Okay so the magnetic properties of this holder make your life easier as the steel/iron alloy etc will hold the screw in place for you which makes life easier as (presumably) the screw will not fall out of the holder and fall off four stories up, etc. He's doing pretty well with that. BUT. The quick load bit holder I received did not have the magnetic ring attached to the screwdriver body so the ring was left with the screw the first time I used it after I put the screw in a 2x4 to try it. Outside. The magnet ring should be held by the lock washer and the lock ring was in place. So I solved the problem by mounting the ring onto the handle using a small brass hammer and anvil. Problem solved BUT if I was at work when it happened the ring could have fallen to the floor, to the floor or even 30 feet to the ground if I was on the stairs. It would be inconvenient to say the least and might hamper the show if I lose the magnet ring. Therefore, quality control can be an issue. Otherwise: Pro: This holder works well with Dewalt bits. (I use old Milwaukee, Bosch and/or Makita so it's not a huge plus for me.) If you're using an impact wrench, this holder also snaps into the screwdriver AND if you're using an impact drill, it will very securely into this holder snap. In addition, the drill ejects the drill when you press the magnetic ring down (down = back to the drill). Finally, the finish is very good and it looks like it can hold up well to everyday use. Cons: Obviously Dewalt is trying to block users with this holder "just with their bits". I have a few other non-dewalt bits that fit "ok" but are about 3/16 inch. too long to fully utilize the magnetic function. (An older set of bits I bought in Germany about 30 years ago. They seem indestructible and fit well, but are a little long by modern standards, although they fit in the older Dewalt holder I've had for a few years ago. My other problem is that the magnet ring has already come loose again. Sigh. At least I still have an anvil handy, and this time I'm going to use a big brass hammer. If you love Dewalt and mainly use their tools, you probably will love I really like this holder, I especially like the quick change function.(Yes, I love a good challenge.) If you need a magnetic holder, this one is available, but I recommend checking out the others before you buy.
