I've been wearing Vibram Five Fingers year round in New England for the past six years. I've changed five pairs over the years. This couple is definitely the best match. This is thanks to the laces combined with insulation. No matter how well other pairs fit, without insulation I get blisters on a long hike or run. It's simply impossible to make ultra-thin shoes that don't have this problem. Thanks to the insulation in these shoes, they won't get too hot in the summer. You can wear them without lacing just for walking (which makes them easier to put on and take off). I really hope that Vibram will continue to do something like this for many years to come. The only downside, like all Five Fingers I've tried, is that they get wet instantly, even on wet pavement or dewy grass (no standing water required). A breathable but waterproof sock (with GoreTex or similar) would be ideal and I am disappointed that this is not the standard. I've just come to terms with the fact that my feet are going to be wet for most of the year (again, I live in New England, which is muddy and muddy for what feels like half the year).
