This is a decent 2-bay NAS. Just throw in a couple of 2TB or 4TB drives configured as RAID 1 and you're good to go. After you complete the brief setup screen, it will automatically appear on your network with the name you gave it. However, ignore the "findme.zyxel.com" setting, it just never worked. Also, ignore the downloadable Zyxel NAS Starter Utility which almost worked to initialize the NAS but then crashed at 90%. Sometimes he froze. Sometimes he could not find the NAS. Instead, just navigate to the IP address of the NAS in a browser. The NAS comes with a full administration panel that's better than the NAS Starter Utility (and it actually works). The control panel allows you to set automatic and scheduled downloads and configure different protocols (FTP, Magnetlink, https, etc.). The system has applications for music, photos, and videos, as well as a file manager, backup utility, status center, download manager, and more. The case fit and finish is okay, but the icons on the front are so small you can't see them. re is mostly illegible. This is poor UI design and frustrating for the user. The good news is that you'll probably never need to look at the front-panel displays. One of the problems that many people face when using a NAS for the first time is creating a new directory in the "root" directory of the NAS. The logical directories on the network are called "Shares" and that is what you want to create. Go to Control Panel -> Permissions and Sharing -> Shared Folders and then click the "+" icon on the toolbar to create a new share (directory). So, aside from a few minor flaws, the end result is a nice little all-around NAS box that costs under $100.
