Review on Enhanced OPT7 Weatherproof 7 Way Flat Blade to 4 Way Pin Adapter with Secure Tab - Ideal for Trailer Tow Hitch and Redline Tailgate LED by Brian Pius

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you tow trailers with both types of plugs, but your vehicle only has a 7-pin plug, buy this.

After having to dig under my part many times to disconnect my 4 pin connector from my 7 pin harness, to pull various inferior quality trailers with only 5 wires and after having 4 contact wires cut . They had to be run out the door, I opted for a combo harness and redid the whole thing. Well it was a flop, I must have ordered the cheapest in the world (or it was just a bad block) as I could only connect 7 pins, there were no wires or soldering tips that didn't even go to the 4 pin side . ! What was the point of this product anyway? Anyway, this product was returned to the seller with a friendly message to wake up their quality department. I then reconnected my old 4-pin connector, plugged it back into the 7-pin harness in the car under the spare tire and just vowed never to tow a four-way trailer again. Problem solved. Thhhhhhhheeeeeennnnnnnnn I volunteered to coach some kids sports for my local school. I didn't realize this meant towing a trailer with gear and this trailer only has a four pin plug. Well, after a bit of fiddling (and maybe teaching the kids some new words) I dug up the quad for the LAST TIME and hauled the trailer to the event. When I returned home, I realized I had to find a solution. Just finding adapters was a bit overwhelming. However, in the end, Google led me to this little magic wand. For around $8 it works like a champ, small enough to just throw in the trunk, sunroof or glove box along with a spare etc etc and I even ordered a second one to put in to store my shared pile of towing gear in the garage. . Please don't repeat what I've done. In a world of over-complexity and a plethora of unnecessary gadgets and conveniences, this little nonsense has really changed the world in a simple, reliable, and inexpensive way. It's a hard rubberized plastic not flimsy and I've been using it for about 3 weeks now with lots of plugs and sockets and it still looks brand new. I didn't have to fiddle around, it just works every time, and it hasn't fallen out of the 7-pin connector, even on Michigan's not-so-maintained roads. I will update if it crashes prematurely or if I have other similar problems. Highly recommended.
