It zips up and has drawstrings at each corner for a duvet cover. My cat will 100% mark it with his claws but for the price I definitely don't mind replacing. I love that the pillowcase has a hole in the middle instead of one end! I would say it holds a decent amount of heat. The only things that could improve it are: - a proper zipper (red instead of white) - one side of the pads made of non-slip material (they keep sliding away from you and onto the floor) - there are more tape fastenings inside, but you need to find a quilting insert with the same tape position so it might be a little unrealistic (insert didn't fit at first so I added another attachment on each side and it's just a little bit better)
