To make that big, bright fan speed indicator invisible in any mode, all you have to do is hold down the mode button (left button on the front of the device) for 3 seconds and the light is now in "stealth mode" and won't show at all even if the device increases or decreases speed. Do the same thing again to make a light show if you like it. I run mine in smart mode at max speed 2 (half speed) and it's mounted on my Denon X3500 which is installed in my open entertainment furniture. But at the front there is only a 4" gap at the top, 1/2" on both sides and at the back it is closed down to 3" at the bottom, which is hardly an ideal living space. I put this fan to a real test by showing the entire country scene in "Saving Private Ryan" to -10dB and it only got to the middle setting (2) a few times and was basically just at the lowest setting of 1 for 75% of the long scene. When all my sources are off, is the fan can easily be heard in my listening position at speed 4 or 3, and at speed 2 I can hear it if I'm listening, but at speed 1 I can't hear anything even in my quiet room. What a wonderful tool this is!
