Review on ๐Ÿ’ฟ Sony PS3 Disc Drive Replacement/Bluray Drive (KES-400A/KEM-400AAA) for 20, 40, 60 GB Models + Nextec T10 Screwdriver by Randy Jagers

PS3 works again. But .

First off, this is a good price for a working FAT PS3 drive. My old block no longer rotated the disc internally. Looking at the docs that came with this drive, Nextec suggests following the install link on their website. It was useless as there was no information on the subject. I was able to find the disassembly video with a simple search. Once the PS3 is disassembled, installing this Blu-ray drive is a breeze. Be careful not to damage the ribbon cables. I put it together and tried it out, but all I heard was grinding noises. The disc has not been inserted. I took it apart again and compared my old Blu-ray drive to the new one and found NO difference. I hand cranked the 2 motors in the drive to make sure they turned and turned freely. I put together enough to test the drive and it worked. I then completely assembled the PS3 and reconnected it to the TV. My FAT 80gig PS3 was fully functional again. Since I had to completely disassemble this new drive, I'm giving it 4 stars.
