I bought these tensioners with snow chains. They are very important to ensure a tight fit of the chains on the tires. I found them a little tricky to install the first time as you have to stretch the rubber to get the clips to reach the chains. The chains are tightened by tightening the rubber ring. Hope it's easier next time. I recommend clamping on opposite ends of the ring rather than going in circles around the ring. As you get around, the last few hooks will be very tight and difficult to fasten. It's easier if you attach one needle at 12 o'clock and then the next one at about 6 o'clock and then work the sides from there.
