Tried to fit a 2013 Silverado 1500 pickup - tire size 265-70/17. Cannot be stretched enough to fit more than 2 hooks. It was on a well-attached chain on a garage floor in 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I don't want to try it in the snow at 20 degrees.

When I received this pair of controls, the rubber had a deep cut for some reason. I needed them for a tractor so I had to put them in anyway, they worked. But. I'm worried he might throw the chain onto the undercarriage with that cut. So I need to get another pair. I didn't even try to return them, I needed them immediately but it's a pity they weren't damaged before my delivery.

I think these track tensioners are for light trucks. Of course, they couldn't even be stretched on a little Mahindra tractor, although I brought a guy half my age to puff and puff. He attached four of the hooks rather unevenly, but the fifth didn't do. I have used several types of chain tensioners including cross/multi arm, this type and just bungee cords. This is my favorite. They are very cheap, easy to put on and seem better at not necessarily having to wear them. Pro tip: before first use, grab a pair of pliers and tighten each hook around the cable a little tighter. I bought these tensioners with snow chains. They are very important to ensure a tight fit of the chains on the tires. I found them a little tricky to install the first time as you have to stretch the rubber to get the clips to reach the chains. The chains are tightened by tightening the rubber ring.
