Love this little vise! It is ideal for filing and grinding small pieces of metal for jewelry. When it arrives, it is motionless and does not rotate. There is a Phillips head screw at the base of the rotating bushing. Just loosen it until the ball rotates well in the socket. A small amount of WD40 on the ball will make it spin easily. I can't imagine it would work very well for heavier conditions, but it really is perfect for small things. If you get the right tension, you can twist them without loosening them every time. Rubber pads on the vise head protect metal from scratches and unwanted marks. Really perfect for jewelry making. Pleasantly surprised by the quality at such a reasonable price. Definitely 5 stars!
