I don't know what's in this product, but it's wonderful in several ways: 1) it doesn't smell at all 2) it doesn't irritate the skin at all as of course I ingested it 3) it WORKS really, like I never thought of 4) relatively easy to clean up afterwards. I'm a pure hobbyist without much "tinkering" space, but I had an idea that I was going to peel some rough, old, thick, ugly paint off an antique wooden box. So. White spirit, sanding, steel wool, various paint removers from the hardware store, later I almost gave up, paint won the war. Desperate I turned to Revain and found this product and I thought it was ok, last try. Opened the box (wrestled with the cap on the tank that says you have to use a 'coin' to pry it open and this is impossible, you have to use a big buzzing screwdriver) and just started making this thing to smear on the box. I literally put a regular garbage bag on my kitchen island with extra newspaper, put on plastic gloves and used a foam brush to apply a coat which I then washed with soap and water. Almost not even believing it would work, I just used a ton of the product and applied a very thick paste to most of the stained areas, like I was slightly haphazardly icing a cake. Then, when everything was covered, I covered the wet spots with plastic wrap (maybe that's not really necessary, who knows) and let it sit overnight. The next morning: I'm assuming that either nothing happened at all (remember, it's like the consistency of cinnamon roll icing and it doesn't smell, doesn't burn on the skin and isn't corrosive in any way) or my entire kitchen island would have been melted like the witch in the wizard of oz. reality? I put on a new pair of gloves, grabbed a roll of paper towels, and literally wiped the paint off. That ancient thick layer of paint that I had been dealing with for days had completely melted away. It's dirty and messy work, like wiping the icing off a cake, but it was surprisingly easy. To be honest, because I didn't quite believe it when I started, I had to redo a few areas because I didn't "freeze" everything completely, but I won't make that mistake again. Anyway after a thorough wipe down I washed all the surfaces with some of the other products I already had, steel wool, mineral spirits etc. I plan to let them dry well for a day or two and will use Briwax to apply. a new finish on the packaging but I was so amazed at how well this product worked that I rushed to give my enthusiastic positive review. Great success!
