Looks like the 9V charging was an afterthought.
The display shows the charge level for AA and AAA only. Next to the 9V in the charging cradle is a tiny LED (1mm) that glows either red or green. 9V batteries are not shown on the main display, so there is no status (CHG, FULL, ERR, DCCHG) or progress. It seems to charge everything.
