Doesn't work with Linux

I've done my best and I'm pretty good at these things. But I could NOT get this device to work on my Linux system, not even in a Windows virtual machine. Yes, it is advertised as a Windows-only device. But pretty much everything else I've tried (with a few exceptions) was close enough to a standard to make it work. However, it is not a relatively expensive device. It's just not recognized by my computer. Of course, other people may have different experiences, so I cannot justify a 1 star rating. I choose 3. Here are some more observations. If you think you're getting a Google-style book camera, you're not. It was definitely intended as a temporary installation only. Includes black rubber mat. The mat unfolds and the camera is placed on the edge of the mat without being supported or held. Now it no longer slides by itself, but a push and it falls. You install it, use it and put it away. Not at all what I expected. It comes with a USB-D (printer side) to USB-A cable that is not long enough. This is more of a problem with other scanners such as B. Tablets that are permanently installed and often also require an extension cable. However, the cable could be longer. You control this by pressing a button that attaches to the camera mount with another very short cable. brightest setting. I would give it the hard way. It doesn't cost any money at all even if it works for you.

Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
