Review on 84 Tooth Locking Flex Head Teardrop Ratchet Set - GEARWRENCH 3 Piece With 1/4", 3/8" And 1/2" Drive - Model 81276A-07 by Jason Ingram

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Quality control is bad and customer service not good either.

Looks and feels great. Quality control not so good. I have the 84 tooth ratchets in flex and standard types and the 120 xp in standard type. All have had some kind of problem causing the ratchets to lock up. Missing detents, improperly drilled bores for the detents, Metal flash on pawl segments and missing lubrication. I Emailed Gearwrench about warranty parts but they did not get back to me - poor customer service. I did purchase rebuild kits for the 84 teeth ratchets and rebuilt them. The 1/2" drive ratchet was missing a selector detent and spring. The reason was that the hole drilled in the handle was filled with metal chips and was drilled under size. So the assembler just left out the parts and shipped it that way. I had to drill and polish the hole to fit the parts in the kit.I would rate these higher if the quality control and customer service were better. I would purchase the 84 tooth long handle versions if I could trust the quality.I recommend Snap-on if you want a high quality fine tooth ratchet. revain was not contacted about this and I know revain would have rectified the problem instantly. I wanted the manufacturer to know what was happening. Now that I have repaired the ratchets I really like them.

Pros
  • Saves time and effort compared to traditional wrenches
Cons
  • The locking mechanism can be difficult to access in tight spaces
