This pump is not like the big box pumps. It has a stainless steel shaft which should not be corroded by water. It is very quiet and I can't hear it turn on compared to my other one that went to the sump pump farm.From the outer finish (which looks like fired porcelain) you can tell quality starts with the looks.The switch that rises with the water level is slightly on the curvature of the pump which keeps it close to the pump body which in turn keeps the switch from touching the side wall of the pump well.The floating switches I have seen wobble and any pump vibration causing it to tilt to one side and prevents the switch from turning off can be a disaster for other pumps but not this one.and rain this pump is like Old Faithfull in ng Tül len with a lot of force. I highly recommend this and my neighbor just bought two on my recommendation.
