Thanks to another reviewer who confirmed that this batch of coils passed 4 tests I decided to take a chance. I ordered mine less than a week after this review was posted, so I figured I had a good shot. Those of us who drive older air-cooled VWs might pay extra attention to our details. It has an internal resistor, 3 spade terminals, no oil sloshing out. The packaging says "Made in Brazil". The one that came to me shows a resistance of 3.5 ohms on the primary and 8.1k ohms on the secondary. I was disappointed that all my favorite online VW bus parts suppliers only sell Bosch or Beru coils made in Mexico. I ordered the Beru and was disappointed to find it was filled with oil. Will it make a big difference in the long run? Maybe, maybe not. But when I've found what appears to be the best option at half the price, why should I even get excited? I'm happy to pay a restocking fee. In a few years, those Brazilian coils could be gone. This should ideally replace my worn black spool.
